cold and wet

I've learned a few things about London in my first two days here.

1.) 7 degrees centigrade is cold. It is even colder when it is windy and raining also.

2.) Big Ben is not in the middle of the roundabout like in European Vacation

3.) I've already found a beer that I like called "Old Speckled Hen" (wtf the " is above the 2 and the @ is where the " should be). I first had it at the Sherlock Holmes Pub, which wasn't as nearly as touristy as I thought it would be. Lots of locals there. They have really amazing mushroom soup and not so amazing sheperd's pie.

Some highlights of the first day:

* Our virgin atlantic flight across the pond was upgraded for free to "premium economy". We got free champagne\ OJ (wtf backslash is next to the z). Lots of extra legroom and a video screen with free movies and games and such were a few of the perks. The video screen didn't get used much though, as it was nighty night time. I don;t know how I will go back to flying economy.

* Public toilets, if not in an establishment costs 50p or $1. wtf wtf.

* We got into Westminster Abbey for free by attending an evensong. It was an amazing experience to say the least. I'm not really religious, but I could appreciate the ceremony. The church itself was unbelievable. Unfortunately there is no photography allowed in the abbey so you will have to take my word for it. Plus, it got us out of the cold and rain.

* Apparently it May 28th is Africa day because there was a huge festival and concert going on in Trafagal square.

* All british people are cute\hot. Even the ones that aren't become cute when they start talking. Asian and Black chicks with the accent are especially hot.

* The London Eye is pretty cool.

* I really need to stop counting in dollars. It makes you sad when you pay £13.50 for 2 people for a pizza buffet and you think it is a good deal, but then realize that it was actually nearly $30 for not that great pizza. counting things in dollars is baaad in Europe. Don't do it anymore.

Unfortunately I cannot upload pictures from this terminal so that will have to wait, but I have some good ones. Day 2 of London will have to come at a later time as well.
